<image:title>Our Work in the Philippines - Andrew and Karen spent twelve years in Manila, the Philippines - from 1987 to 1998 - where they planted Harvesters Christian Fellowship. HCF is now a movement of six congregations which serve the business community, families in Manila’s inner city, and a rural community of farmers.</image:title>

<image:title>Our Work in the Philippines - Beginning with a Bible study in an animation study, HCF ministered to young artists and their families. Shortly afterward it launched outreaches to several university campuses. Since its founding HCF has been a vibrant young church of creative professionals. Moved by the desperate need of families who live in Manila’s slums, HCF began outreaches to families who live along the railroad tracks that pass through the center of Manila. These shanty towns are concentrations of human suffering. Beginning in a single shanty, HCF developed a growing congregation which in turn has planted other daughter churches. The inner city congregation, HCF Manila, has a weekly outreach to Manila City Jail and to families who live in the city’s largest cemetery. It founded a pre-school, and fixes a warm breakfast for the kids every day.</image:title>

<image:title>Our Work in the Philippines - Recently HCF completed a new church building for its congregation in Tondo. This congregation serves families who live near the railroad tracks that pass through the densely packed neighborhood. <image:title>Books - Millenials and the Mission of God</image:title>
<image:caption>As mainstream media cries out that the millennial generation has killed everything from cereal to office jobs, it must also be asked: have millennials killed Christian missions? With the rise of new technologies, social and political movements, and increasing numbers of religious nones, the church as we know it is facing serious turmoil at the hands of this new generation of adults. Here, a millennial and a baby boomer invite the reader into a dialogue about the future of missions and the future of the Western church. From a missiological reading of the Bible to the contemporary debate over Christian social justice and the ethical dilemmas of evangelism, this book plays out the intergenerational tensions within the church, and provides a platform from which to view the present and future of an institution that is so rapidly changing.</image:caption>

      <image:title>Books - Learning From the Least</image:title>
<image:caption>With the majority of the world’s Christians now living in the non-Western world, Christian mission has become a global movement. The mission of Western Christianity now faces the challenge of laying aside the preeminence and privilege it has long enjoyed in global Christian mission, and embracing a new role of servanthood in weakness alongside its sisters and brothers from Asia, South America, and Africa. Such a transformation in historic patterns in mission requires not just new strategies and techniques, but a renewal of its spirituality. How can the spirituality of Western mission be renewed? Learn more.</image:caption>

She is a native of Manila and holds a BA in Education. She is a licensed, professional teacher. In 2020, Emmy started as the Managing Director of HCFI. This was a tough year for her because of the work transition and the Covid19 Pandemic happening simultaneously. Programs were put on hold due to quarantine and lockdowns, restrictions and protocols of the government. But God has always been faithful. Emmy believes that God is preparing greater things for His ministry at HCFI. Emmy says: “Being part of the Foundation and the church for 16 years has been a rewarding experience for me from which I will be forever grateful to Him. And I know that God will be with me throughout this challenging yet exciting journey. As Philippians 1:6 states, ‘Being confident of this, that he who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus.’”</image:caption>
